Alert From The Center On Bangladeshi Nationals Staying There Illegally

The illegal presence of Bangladeshi nationals in India has been brought to your attention by the Union government.

Police sources said on November 6 that state and union territory directors general of police have been instructed to take appropriate action against illegal immigrants who entered the nation through West Bengal’s Bangladesh border and settled all over the nation.

Security agencies were made aware of a well-connected network of locals and agents in West Bengal who were making it easier for foreigners to enter the country and obtain original documents by using fictitious addresses, identities, and other details.

The illegal immigrants who initially acquired Aadhaar cards relocated to other locations across the nation in search of employment before settling there. According to the sources, some were able to obtain additional forms of identification or proof of address, including bank passbooks, voter identity cards, and PAN cards.

Fake identities

According to the advisory from the Centre, some West Bengal residents were working as agents by selling Aadhaar cards and other fraudulently obtained Indian identification documents.

The official cited the warning as saying that foreigners posing as Indian citizens utilized the passports for various reasons across India and said that the alleged foreign nationals were settled in a number of States, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.

Days after the warning, the Ministry of Home Affairs gave the district collectors of Mehsana and Anand in Gujarat the authority to give citizenship certificates to Pakistani, Afghani, and Bangladeshi residents who belong to the Hindu, Sikh, Parsi, Christian, Buddhist, and Jain communities.

Police drive in T.N.

A few years ago, the Tamil Nadu Police began a campaign against Bangladeshi nationals who had relocated to various districts under the guise of West Bengal residents and obtained employment in the textile, construction, and hospitality sectors. Some of them were detained and arrested in accordance with the Foreigners Act’s guidelines. Most of these suspects were housed in the districts of Tirupur, Chengalpattu, Erode, Cuddalore, and Kancheepuram.

The Bangladeshi workers remained during the pandemic lockdown while several lakhs of migrant workers returned to their respective home States. During that time, some of them engaged in activities like selling drugs, the sources added.
