A Bengaluru Court Orders Twitter To Block Congress Party And Bharat Jodo’s Accounts For Allegedly Using KGF-2’s Music Without Permission

On November 7, a civil court in Bengaluru issued an order directing Twitter to temporarily block the accounts of the Indian National Congress and Bharat Jodo after MRT Music filed a lawsuit against the organization accusing it of violating its copyright by using KGF chapter-2’s music illegally in videos that it uploaded to the microblogging site.
Lathakumari M., an additional city civil judge, issued the ex-parte ruling on the plaintiff’s lawsuit against the Indian National Congress, Supriya Shrinate, Rahul Gandhi, Twitter Inc., and Ashok Kumar.
Three tweets issued from the primary account of the Congress party, @INCIndia, were ordered by the court to be removed and taken down by Twitter. Additionally, it instructed the microblogging platform to ban the social media accounts @INCIndia and @BharatJodo until the next hearing date.
The defendants were further restrained by the court from using the plaintiff’s copyrighted work without permission and illegally synchronizing, from disseminating illegal copies of it, and from illicitly uploading, storing, posting, communicating to the public, or digitally transmitting the plaintiff’s work until the next date.
The court added that if a commissioner is not appointed to conduct the local inspection, the goal of granting an injunction would be defeated by delay.
In order to visit the defendant’s website, conduct electronic audit and preserve the infringing materials available in the above social media and prepare an inventory of the same and store the same in this court’s system and separate CD, S.N. Venkateshmurthy, the district system administrator of the computer section, was chosen as the local commissioner.
The case was then scheduled for hearing on November 21 by the court. For the alleged unauthorized use of its copyrighted work, MRT Music has requested a decree of permanent injunction against Congress and its party leaders
