A significant blaze consumed two stationary vehicles in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, during the early hours of Saturday. The event took place on the primary road heading to Mahakumbh Mela, causing alarm among the residents.

UP Fire officer Vishal Yadav said, “Devotees have come from far-flung areas and have parked their vehicles here. The fire broke out due to the extreme heat. Fire engines have reached the spot, and the fire has been controlled. The Ertiga car is completely burnt, and the Venue car is partially burnt. There were no casualties in the incident, and everyone is safe.”

Thick plumes of smoke were observed ascending from the vehicles. A number of firefighters arrived at the location and managed to control the flames. There have been no reports of casualties or injuries. The fire started at approximately 6:30 am. In reply, six fire departments and water tankers were sent to the location, where the blaze was quickly contained, he noted.

This event occurred a week following a fire at the Mahakumbh location, which the police reported was triggered by a cylinder explosion.

Vivek Chaturvedi, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of the Mahakumbh Mela, reported that the fire happened on January 19 at the Gita Press camp. Approximately 70 to 80 huts and eight to 10 tents were lost. After the event, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav demanded immediate action and urged officials to implement measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
