A SPECIAL DURGOTSAB CELEBRATING WITH THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED CHILDREN AND SENIOR CITIZENS

Durga Puja is a much awaited and coveted annual festival for the Bengalis. But due to the recent socio-political mishaps, deaths, destruction and protests, the zeal to celebrate has taken a backseat unlike the other years.

But recently a special Durgotsab, rather a special celebration was unveiled through a press conference at Rotary Sadan on 5th October, where officials from The News Mania Welfare Trust, NIP, Rotary RID 3291,News Mania, The Saini International School Group and Forum of Durgotsab revealed their unique initiative to celebrate Durga Puja 2024 with 50 differently abled children and senior citizens. Through a Puja Parikrama with them, 100 Durga Pujas will be judged considering their ‘Disability and Senior Citizen Friendliness’ and awarded. Along with that 100 brails will be installed for the convenience of the blind during the Pujas.

Among many dignitaries in the event, senior and popular actor/Rotarian Biswajit Chakraborty was present with popular actor/activist/teacher of Method acting Bobby Chakraborty. Both are an active part of this initiative,reiterated the fact that there can’t be a better celebration like this,among a dark and troubled time, where one has the opportunity to extend one’s helping hand towards the lesser privileged and needy.

Bobby dedicated two soul searching songs towards humanitarian work and one’s intention to contribute to the society, which won the hearts of a packed auditorium.
