AAP Alleges Conspiracy Against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Amid Health Concerns

AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Sunday accused the BJP and Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena of orchestrating a conspiracy to harm Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been in Tihar Jail since March 21. Singh’s comments follow recent claims by Saxena’s office that Kejriwal has been deliberately reducing his food intake, contributing to his deteriorating health.

At a press conference, Singh charged that the BJP was interfering with Kejriwal’s health, noting the inconsistencies in the allegations about Kejriwal’s diet. Initially, it was reported that he was consuming high-sugar foods, which was supposedly intended to spike his blood sugar levels to facilitate medical bail. Now, according to Singh, there are claims suggesting Kejriwal has been purposely minimizing his food intake, which he believes points to a deliberate attempt to jeopardize the Chief Minister’s well-being.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised concerns about Kejriwal’s sudden weight loss, claiming he has lost eight kilograms since his incarceration. The party believes this drastic reduction in weight could indicate a serious underlying health issue. Singh highlighted that the medical reports indicate Kejriwal could be in grave danger, and he expressed fears that the current statements by the Lt Governor and BJP could further jeopardize Kejriwal’s health.

On Friday, the Lt Governor’s office sent a communication to the Chief Secretary, expressing concern over Kejriwal’s alleged refusal to consume his prescribed medical diet and medications. According to this communication, the Superintendent of Tihar Jail reported that Kejriwal had been willfully reducing his calorie intake, despite being provided with adequate home-cooked meals. Additionally, it was noted that Kejriwal had refused to take insulin on July 7, which was another point of concern.

Earlier this year, the Enforcement Directorate had accused Kejriwal of consuming high-sugar foods to artificially raise his blood sugar levels in an attempt to secure medical bail. Despite these claims, Kejriwal’s legal team has countered that his condition is deteriorating, citing a recent incident where his blood sugar reportedly dropped below 50 while he was asleep.

Kejriwal’s legal battle began with his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the excise policy case. While he was granted bail by a lower court in this matter, he was subsequently arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He was later granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in the ED case but remains in jail due to ongoing proceedings with the CBI.

The situation has escalated tensions, with AAP accusing the BJP and the Lt Governor’s office of undermining Kejriwal’s health and well-being. As the Chief Minister remains in custody, the party continues to assert that there is a deliberate attempt to endanger his life, adding further complexity to the already charged political climate surrounding Kejriwal’s imprisonment.
