Afghan Migrant Jailed for Five Years Over Death Threat Against UK Politician Nigel Farage

An Afghan national, Fayaz Khan, has been sentenced to five years in prison by a UK court for threatening to kill Reform UK leader Nigel Farage in a menacing TikTok video. The 28-year-old migrant, who arrived illegally in Britain by boat in 2024, was also handed an additional eight-month sentence for unlawful entry, which will run concurrently.

The court heard that Khan recorded and uploaded the video while traveling from Sweden to the UK, directly addressing Farage and making gunfire gestures while uttering the words “pop, pop, pop.” He also pointed to an AK-47 tattoo on his face, symbolizing his intent. The video quickly went viral, drawing concern from law enforcement and political circles.

During the trial, Farage described the threat as “chilling,” saying he genuinely feared for his safety and that of his family. He added that such acts highlight the rising risks faced by public figures in the digital age.

Justice Karen Steyn, while delivering the sentence, said Khan’s video went beyond offensive speech and constituted a credible threat to kill. “This was not a moment of anger or intoxication. Your actions were deliberate, premeditated, and intended to cause fear,” she remarked.

Investigations revealed that Khan had given false identification details upon arriving in the UK, allegedly to avoid facing a previous six-month prison sentence in Sweden.

Following the ruling, Farage welcomed the decision but expressed concern that Khan might be released early, serving less than half of his sentence.

The case has reignited debate in Britain over immigration, online extremism, and political safety, underscoring how social media threats can translate into serious criminal consequences under UK law.
