After a Mumbai Metro under-construction pillar collapsed in Mulund, one person was killed and three injured.

An auto rickshaw and a car on the LBS Road in Mulund, Mumbai, were struck by a piece of the parapet of an elevated under-construction metro train bridge, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The injured are receiving all required medical treatment, according to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

According to officials, the metro project team is on the scene and is closely coordinating with the disaster management authorities and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to secure the site and conduct relief efforts.

The section of the parapet, according to the BMC’s disaster control wing, measured roughly 6 by 4.

The deceased was named by officials as Ramdhan Yadav. Rajkumar Indrajeet Yadav, 45, was admitted to an intensive care unit and is in serious condition, they added. The other two injured, 40-year-old Deepa Ruhiya and 52-year-old Mahendra Pratap Yadav, were stable, according to officials.

According to the MMRDA, an investigation has been mandated to ascertain the reason behind the collapse and examine safety procedures and structural stability measures during construction.
