Amaal Mallik Challenges “Unfair Democracy” in Bigg Boss 19, Spotlight on Kunickaa Sadanand’s Survival

Popular music composer Amaal Mallik has stirred debate inside the Bigg Boss 19 house after openly questioning the show’s fairness. Mallik accused the makers of running an “unfair democracy,” pointing to what he described as bias that is shaping the game in favor of actor Kunickaa Sadanand.

The controversy began during a nominations task under the season’s theme, Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar. Housemates were paired and asked to silently count exactly 19 minutes, with the pair farthest from the mark facing nomination. Mallik, paired with Kunickaa, dropped out of the task within five minutes to self-nominate both contestants. He later defended the move as an act of “true democracy.”

However, Bigg Boss intervened before the task, forbidding self-nomination. Mallik argued this contradicted rules seen in earlier seasons, exposing what he called inconsistency and selective enforcement. This incident further fueled speculation that Kunickaa has been receiving preferential treatment.

Fans have raised eyebrows over several recent twists. Last week, despite having the lowest public votes, Kunickaa was saved from eviction through a special power introduced in the App Room. On Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan also appeared lenient toward her, overlooking conflicts such as a food fight and instead shifting focus to her emotional struggles by involving her son on the show.

Double standards were also evident in rule enforcement. For instance, when contestant Abhishek Bajaj broke a rule, his partner Nagma was penalized. Yet, when Kunickaa cheated by stuffing cotton in her ears during a challenge, she faced no consequences because the captain chose not to report her.

Mallik’s stance has struck a chord with many viewers frustrated over what they perceive as scripted favoritism.
