Junaid Khan, who recently debuted in the historical drama Maharaj, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelmingly positive feedback the film has received since its release. Speaking to ANI, Junaid shared his satisfaction, stating, “I’m very grateful for the by and large positive response that Maharaj has received. So yeah, it’s quite satisfying; I guess all’s well that ends well.”
Reflecting on what drew him to the project initially, Junaid explained, “When Sid and Adi Sir called me for this story, I found it very appealing. I really liked Sid sir’s part. The Yash Raj banner is significant, so taking on this project was an obvious choice.”
Regarding his father Aamir Khan’s reaction to the film, Junaid mentioned, “He normally lets us do what we want to do unless we ask for something very specific; then he gives advice. But he liked the film. He saw the film a few months ago and he quite liked it.”
Earlier on Friday, the Gujarat High Court lifted its temporary stay on the film’s release, allowing Maharaj to finally hit the screens. Yash Raj Films (YRF) expressed their gratitude following the court’s decision, stating on their official Instagram handle, “We are grateful to the judiciary for allowing the release of Maharaj, a film that celebrates one of the most important social reformers of our country, KarsandasMulji.”
Highlighting their commitment to showcasing Indian stories and heritage, YRF added, “Yash Raj Films has a 50-year-old legacy of championing India, its stories, its people, culture & heritage. We have never produced a film that tarnished the reputation of our country or our countrymen.”
Directed by Sidharth P Malhotra and produced by YRF Entertainment, Maharaj explores the historic 1862 Maharaj Libel Case. The film stars Junaid Khan in a pivotal role alongside Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and features a special appearance by Sharvari. Maharaj delves into the remarkable legal battle of KarsandasMulji, a prominent social reformer of pre-Independence India, known for his courage in confronting the injustices of his era.
Critics and audiences have praised Maharaj for its compelling narrative and powerful performances. The film is currently available for streaming on Netflix India, allowing viewers to delve into this gripping tale of courage and justice in Indian history.
