A late-night assault on Dammam airport in Saudi Arabia resulted in two fatalities and eight injuries, according to the civil aviation authority, as Houthi strikes from Yemen escalate.
An attack on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of a Saudi and an Indian man, as stated by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, which revised its earlier death toll.
It stated that evaluation of the airport’s damage was underway. In the past weeks, Houthi assaults on Saudi oil and civilian facilities have escalated to an unprecedented level, compelling Riyadh to close its primary airport and delay a significant investment conference. According to an AFP count of official data, 22 individuals have lost their lives in assaults on Saudi airports this month.
A maritime blockade by the Houthis in the Red Sea is endangering oil deliveries from Saudi Arabia, the largest crude exporter globally. The Houthi assaults come after the breakdown in July of a prolonged ceasefire in Yemen’s civil conflict, where the Iran-aligned faction is battling the government backed by a Saudi-led alliance.
The Houthis announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia and started attacking its vessels, land, and oil installations, followed by a significant assault in September that resulted in the capture of government-controlled areas along the Red Sea shoreline.
As a reaction, the Saudi air force has regularly struck regions controlled by the Houthis, encompassing a large portion of destitute Yemen.
