Anil Deshmukh was attacked; four unnamed individuals to face charges.

Four unnamed individuals have been charged with attempting to kill Anil Deshmukh, the former home minister of Maharashtra and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (SP), after stones were hurled at his car in Nagpur the day before, according to news agency PTI.After suffering a head injury, Anil Deshmukh was sent right away to the Katol Civil Hospital for medical attention. Later on, he was sent to a private hospital.

Around 8:00 p.m., Anil Deshmukh was on his way back to Katol from a meeting in Narkhed village when he was attacked. A high-level investigation into the incident, which took place on the final day of campaigning for the November 20 Maharashtra assembly elections, has been demanded by the NCP (SP). The Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) stated on Tuesday that the event was taken seriously.

According to PTI, he stated that a forensic team has been to the scene of the incident to gather technical evidence. According to Poddar, the deputy SP of Katol has been given the inquiry. Additionally, the police have urged the public to ignore any rumors.

The incident has sparked calls for accountability and swift action against those responsible by politicians. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said that the attack on Deshmukh is shocking.

“The attack on former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh is shocking. Violence has absolutely no place in our politics or society. Urge authorities to take swift action against the perpetrators,” Chadha wrote on X.

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the AAP and a former chief minister of Delhi, also denounced the incident, stating that violence had no place in a democracy. The attack on Anil Deshmukh, according to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi, is indicative of lawlessness in Maharashtra.

“The attack on former Maharashtra Home Minister Shri Anil Deshmukh is extremely worrisome and yet again a reminder of how goons have brazenly been functioning under this Mahajhoothi government. Wishing him a speedy recovery,” Priyanka wrote in a post.
