One of the defining chapters of his career came during India’s tour of Australia in 2020-21. Taking over as captain after Virat Kohli returned home, Rahane led a depleted Indian side to a remarkable 2-1 series victory. His century in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne played a crucial role in India’s recovery after the heavy defeat in Adelaide.
