India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has reached out to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami with a personal request, expressing his desire to purchase land in the state and return closer to his roots.
Pant, who hails from Uttarakhand, made the appeal publicly through social media, tagging Chief Minister Dhami in his post. The cricketer said he wanted to buy land in the state and sought the chief minister’s assistance in making the process easier.
The request quickly drew attention, given Pant’s strong connection with Uttarakhand despite spending much of his professional life away from the state. Born in Roorkee, Pant has represented India across formats and has established himself as one of the country’s leading wicketkeeper-batters.
Pant’s message reflects his continuing association with his home state. Over the years, the cricketer has spoken about his attachment to Uttarakhand and has remained involved with initiatives connected to the region. His latest appeal has also generated interest among fans, many of whom welcomed his intention to establish a more permanent connection with his place of origin. The interaction comes at a time when Pant remains one of the most prominent names in Indian cricket. Known for his aggressive batting and distinctive style behind the stumps, he has played a key role for India in Test, ODI and T20 cricket.
Chief Minister Dhami has previously highlighted the contribution and achievements of sportspersons from Uttarakhand, with the state seeking to promote itself as a destination for athletes and sporting talent. Pant’s request, therefore, carries both a personal and symbolic significance. While the cricketer’s immediate objective is to acquire land and make Uttarakhand a home base, his public statement has also underlined his enduring ties to the state.
