DRDO Successfully Tests High-Altitude Combat Parachute at 22,000 Feet
News Mania Desk/ 2nd September 2026

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested an advanced high-altitude combat parachute system under extreme environmental conditions. The system was tested at an altitude of 22,000 feet and a temperature of -15°C, demonstrating its capability to operate in challenging high-altitude environments.
The successful trial marks an important step towards strengthening India’s indigenous defence equipment capabilities. High-altitude parachute systems are critical for specialised military operations in difficult terrain and extreme weather conditions.
The test highlights DRDO’s continued efforts to develop advanced technologies for the Indian Armed Forces and reduce dependence on imported defence equipment. The achievement further supports the government’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the defence sector.
