Rashmi Group Organises Free Health Camp at Barkola Vivekananda High School In Kharagpur

Kharagpur : A free health check-up and medicine distribution camp was organized at Barkola Vivekananda High School under the CSR initiative of Rashmi Group. The camp was managed by Rashmi Metallurgical Industry Private Limited and conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The initiative aimed to promote health awareness and provide modern healthcare services to people living in rural areas.

In this camp, people were provided with free tests for height, weight, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and blood sugar. Doctors from Ruby General Hospital, Kolkata—Dr. Niloy Ghosh, Dr. Sagarika Choudhury and Dr. Gautam Choudhury—conducted detailed health examinations. ECG and pulmonary function tests (PFT) were also carried out free of cost with the support of trained technicians. Medicines were distributed free of charge by Rashmi Group according to the doctors’ prescriptions.

Speaking on the occasion, Rashmi Group Executive Director Bhaskar Chaudhuri said, “Along with business expansion, delivering quality services to every person in society is one of our primary goals. This CSR initiative is aimed at ensuring that people in rural areas get access to modern healthcare facilities near their homes. We will continue such social welfare activities in the future as well.”

The camp was organized under the leadership of Natabar Biswal, DGM–CSR, Rashmi Group. He said, “Swami Vivekananda said, ‘Manav Seva Hi Madhav Seva,’ which means service to humanity is service to God. We are blessed to organize this camp for the welfare of people at Barkola Vivekananda High School, named after Swamiji. Our real success lies in bringing smiles to the faces of people in remote areas with the support of doctors from a reputed institution like Ruby General Hospital.”

A teacher of the school appreciated the initiative and said that organizing a health camp for underprivileged rural residents was highly commendable. The teacher thanked Rashmi Group for choosing the school premises and providing free treatment and medicines.

Subir Pal, a distinguished member of the committee, also praised the initiative. He said many economically disadvantaged people had benefited from timely diagnosis, medical advice and advanced testing facilities.

Local residents expressed their gratitude for receiving free consultations, tests and medicines near their homes. An elderly villager said that it was difficult for ordinary people to travel to the city for expensive tests and consultations. He added that receiving ECG and PFT tests, consulting specialist doctors from Kolkata and getting medicines free of cost was a memorable experience.

A woman villager said the camp gave her an opportunity to focus on her health despite the demands of household work. She appreciated the doctors’ advice and said that access to such services in the village was extremely beneficial.

The camp was conducted in a disciplined manner and received widespread appreciation from local residents and community members.
