Thousands of women farmers to converge in Delhi on Sept 30

New Delhi, 28 Sep: Thousands of women farmer activists from across India will converge in the national capital on September 30 for an All India Women Farmers’ Conference focused on challenges faced by women in agriculture and strengthening their role in the farm sector, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) general secretary Mohini Mohan Mishra and national women convenor Manju Dixit said on Monday.
The conference will be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium from 9 am, they said at a press conference.
Selected women farmers will be honoured for contributions to organic and natural farming, indigenous seed conservation, animal husbandry and dairy production, and food processing and rural employment.
Mishra said women play a significant role in farm operations, livestock management and preservation of traditional agricultural knowledge.
The conference will also address issues related to the recognition and participation of women in agriculture.
