Google Reports Strong Search, Cloud and AI Growth as Wall Street Reacts Cautiously

News Mania Desk/ Piyal Chatterjee/ 30th October 2026

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, reported strong revenue growth in the third quarter of 2026, driven by rising demand for Google Cloud, its search business and artificial intelligence services. Chief executive Sundar Pichai highlighted the company’s performance, while Tesla and xAI chief Elon Musk responded to the results with a brief “Wow” on X.

Alphabet reported quarterly revenue of $127.6 billion, representing a 25% increase from the corresponding period last year. Pichai said the company was benefiting from growing demand for its AI infrastructure, cloud services and consumer-facing products.

Google Cloud was a major contributor to the growth, with revenue more than doubling to $30.7 billion, an increase of 103%. The performance reflected increased demand for computing infrastructure and AI-related services as businesses expand their use of advanced technology.

Google’s core search business also recorded growth. Google Search revenue rose 12% to $63.35 billion, demonstrating continued strength in the company’s principal advertising business despite growing competition in online information services.

Pichai also highlighted developments in Google’s artificial intelligence ecosystem. The Gemini app reached one billion users, while Google’s AI model application programming interfaces processed nearly 32 billion tokens per minute, reflecting expanding use of the company’s AI tools.

However, the results did not fully satisfy investors. Alphabet shares fell nearly 10% following the earnings announcement, as market participants focused on profitability and the company’s substantial spending on AI infrastructure.

Alphabet reported net income of $26.17 billion, down from $34.98 billion in the same quarter a year earlier. The decline raised questions about the costs associated with its technology investments, even as revenue continued to increase.

The results highlight the contrasting pressures facing major technology companies: strong demand for AI services is creating new revenue opportunities, but building the infrastructure required to support that demand involves substantial expenditure. Despite the market reaction, Alphabet’s performance underlines the growing importance of artificial intelligence and cloud computing to its business strategy.
