Actor Ranbir Kapoor has sparked fresh speculation about a possible third instalment of Ramayana after making an intriguing remark about the future of director Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic. His comments have prompted fans to wonder whether the ambitious film franchise could eventually extend beyond its planned two-part format.
Ranbir, who portrays Lord Rama in the film, recently revealed that he has completed nearly 50 per cent of his work on the second instalment. During the conversation, he also referred to the possibility of a third film, adding the phrase “if there is one”. The remark quickly attracted attention on social media, with fans interpreting it as a possible hint about the franchise’s future.
The actor described his involvement in Ramayana as an opportunity of a lifetime, highlighting the personal and professional significance of the project. Following the circulation of the interview clip, several viewers began discussing the possibility of the epic being developed into a trilogy. While some welcomed the idea, others questioned whether the filmmakers had plans beyond the two announced films.
The speculation has gained further momentum because producer Namit Malhotra had previously revealed that the makers initially considered adapting the epic across three parts. However, they eventually settled on a two-film structure. Malhotra has indicated that the possibility of revisiting the format could depend on audience responses and feedback after the first instalment.
The film boasts an extensive cast, with Sai Pallavi playing Goddess Sita, Yash portraying Ravana, Ravi Dubey appearing as Lakshman and Sunny Deol taking on the role of Hanuman. Arun Govil, Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh are also part of the project.
Ramayana Part 1 is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 5, 2026, while the second instalment is expected to arrive around Diwali 2027. However, despite the growing excitement surrounding Ramayana Part 3, the filmmakers have not officially announced a third film.
