Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party claimed on Monday that his party might win up to 55 seats out of 70 in the Delhi assembly election on February 5.However, Arvind Kejriwal stated that if women in Delhi make an additional effort to vote and urge the males in their families to vote for the AAP as well, the figure might exceed 60.
“I appeal to my mothers and sisters to convince the male members of their families that there is nothing in the BJP. It is the party of the rich. Only Kejriwal will be useful…” Arvind Kejriwal said during a roadshow in Kalkaji assembly constituency.
“This election belongs to women… If women contribute, then we will win more than 60 seats… The AAP will win New Delhi, Jangpura and Kalkaji seats with a historic margin…” news agency quoted the AAP chief as saying.
The results of the Delhi assembly election will be announced on February 8.
In the 2020 election, the AAP retained its majority with 62 seats, while the BJP gained 8 and the Congress failed to register. In 2015, the AAP won 67 of the 70 seats at stake, leaving only three for the BJP and none for the Congress.
The high-voltage campaign for the Delhi assembly election came to a close at 5 p.m. on Monday. The Election Commission’s Model Code of Conduct (MCC) requires that all public gatherings, election-related activities, and campaigning end 48 hours before polls close.
The intensely contested electoral struggle between the AAP, BJP, and Congress has been characterized by the unprecedented use of parody films, caustic political jibes, and loud roadshows. While the AAP referred to the BJP as the “Bharatiya Jhootha Party” and the “Gali Galouch Party,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded by referring to the AAP as “AAP-Daa” (disaster) and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal, as “Ghoshna Mantri”.
