Guwahati: Ms Mamoni Basumatary, one of the pioneering women engineers from Assam, was recently honoured by President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Er Mamoni, who is serving as General Manager (Technical) with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), received the prestigious SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Sector Enterprises) Eminence Award in the category of Outstanding Women Leadership – Commendation (Women in Leadership and Senior Management Roles) for the year 2022–23. An alumna of Assam Engineering College under Gauhati University, Er Mamoni has built a distinguished career in the oil and gas sector. Her husband, Er Pradip Basumatary is presently serving as Executive Director (M&I) at the Refinery Headquarters in New Delhi.
