News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 12th January 2025

In an effort to resolve escalating tensions at the Indo-Bangla border, Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Ministry summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma on Sunday to talk about border-related matters.

The news emerged just hours after Dhaka accused India of attempting to construct fences at five sites along the India-Bangladesh border, breaching a bilateral agreement, according to PTI. The Indian ambassador reached the foreign ministry at approximately 3.00 pm, where he conducted a 45-minute discussion with foreign secretary Md Jashim Uddin.

Although the interim government did not release an official statement about the talks, officials verified that the envoy has been called. The India-Bangladesh border, one of the longest international borders in the world, has been a significant source of dispute, covering topics from border security to unlawful migration.
