New Delhi, India — The President of India and the Prime Minister of India today extended a grand ceremonial welcome to H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, who arrived in New Delhi on a State Visit aimed at strengthening the longstanding strategic partnership between India and Russia.

The ceremonial reception was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Putin was received with full State honours. The event began with the Guard of Honour presented by the Tri-Services contingent of the Indian Armed Forces, followed by the playing of the national anthems of both nations. Top dignitaries from the Government of India, including senior ministers and officials, were present to welcome the visiting leader.

President Putin’s visit underscores the deep-rooted diplomatic, defence, and economic cooperation between India and Russia. During the visit, both sides are expected to review the progress of ongoing bilateral initiatives and explore new areas of collaboration in energy security, trade, defence manufacturing, space research, and scientific innovation.

The Indian leadership is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with the Russian President later in the day, with discussions focused on enhancing economic engagement, boosting investment flows, and reinforcing cooperation across emerging technologies. Regional and global issues of mutual interest are also expected to feature prominently in the dialogues.

This State Visit marks an important milestone in the India–Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation and maintain regular high-level exchanges.

The ceremonial reception concluded with President Putin signing the official visitor’s book at Rashtrapati Bhavan, expressing his appreciation for India’s warm hospitality. The visit is expected to result in several key agreements and a renewed roadmap for future bilateral engagements.
