OpenAI is currently expanding the capabilities of its chatbot ChatGPT. Users may presently utilize this generative AI chatbot to answer questions, develop code, and do other tasks by providing text or picture input. However, OpenAI has revealed that ChatGPT will soon be able to interpret movies and engage with users based on real-time visual inputs.
During a live-streamed event, OpenAI demonstrated its new ChatGPT functionality. OpenAI said that ChatGPT would soon be able to recognize things using a smartphone’s camera and deliver insights based on what it sees, similar to how we seek information by pointing a camera at Google Lens or the recently added Visual Intelligence function in cameras.
However, according to Bloomberg, the ChatGPT software will be able to see the object pointed out by the user and provide replies in real time depending on what the user is asking. As for availability, this functionality will be made available to paying ChatGPT Plus and Pro members beginning this week. The capability will be available to corporate and educational customers in January 2025 as part of OpenAI’s ambition to integrate sophisticated AI capabilities into a variety of industries.According to reports, the video capabilities revelation is part of OpenAI’s 12-day product launch campaign. These include the launch of a paid ChatGPT Pro membership and an AI video production tool called Sora.
Earlier in October, OpenAI introduced Sora Turbo, a new AI tool that converts text prompts into highly realistic movies. Sora Turbo was initially released as a limited research preview in February, but OpenAI has recently made it generally available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro customers. This application allows customers to create videos up to 20 seconds long, with resolutions up to 1080p and forms such as widescreen, vertical, and square.
Sora Turbo provides users with a variety of customization possibilities, allowing them to create, remix, and edit videos utilizing own assets or completely new concepts. It also contains a storyboard interface that allows users to precisely describe frame-by-frame details, as well as a community showcase where users may browse curated feeds to discover popular projects.
However, the implementation is currently regionally restricted. Sora Turbo is currently inaccessible in the EU, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, and is only available to those over the age of 18. ChatGPT Plus members may create up to 50 480p movies each month, whilst Pro users have more options, such as greater resolutions and bigger production limitations. To meet the different needs of its users, OpenAI wants to create variable pricing structures next year.
