News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 21st March  2025

The authorities in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, have disclosed their major discoveries regarding the murder of a former Merchant Navy officer, reportedly carried out by his wife and her partner. Saurabh Rajput’s remains – dismembered into 15 sections – were discovered in a drum filled with cement. He was murdered on March 4, over a week after he returned from overseas to celebrate his daughter’s birthday. His spouse Muskaan Rastogi and companion Sahil Shukla, with whom she engaged in an extramarital relationship, were subsequently apprehended.

A senior police official in charge of the investigation has addressed 10 inquiries following the horrific murder, which ignited theories regarding black magic, Muskaan’s drinking problem, and her supposed desire to succeed in Bollywood. Ayush Vikram Singh, the Superintendent of Police for Meerut City, stated that the police continue to probe the motive and disclosed the evidence gathered up to this point.

The officer stated that Muskaan and Sahil admitted to murdering Saurabh. They encased the victim’s remains in a drum filled with cement and escaped to Himachal Pradesh. Upon their return two days later, they were apprehended. They confessed to their offense while being interrogated. The firearm used in the killing has also been found.

“During her interrogation, Muskaan said that she was in an illicit relationship with Sahil since 2019. Saurabh was aware of this and had filed for divorce in 2021. But his family had convinced him to stay with his wife,” said the SP.

Muskaan claimed that Saurabh had Rs 6 lakh in his account, and out of fear that the money could be seized, he had transferred Rs 1 lakh to her account and about one and a half lakh to his mother’s account. The officer said her claims are being verified. They are also checking when Saurabh had gone to London and his activities there.
