The day prior to the AICC session, the Congress’ premier decision-making entity CWC will gather on Tuesday to discuss the party’s future strategy, significant national matters, enhancing its organization, and preparations for forthcoming elections.

An extensive meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) will see participation from its members, special and permanent invitees, presidents of Pradesh Congress Committees, leaders of the Congress parliamentary party, council leaders, members of the Central Election Committee (CEC), office-bearers of the Congress parliamentary party, as well as former chief ministers and deputy chief ministers.

Approximately 170 individuals are expected to participate in the gathering at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial.

Sources indicated that the CWC is expected to discuss the resolutions to be approved during the session. It is also anticipated to make decisions on a variety of initiatives related to its organizational revitalization, such as granting additional authority to district congress presidents and guaranteeing accountability.

The gathering will finalize its approach for the upcoming assembly elections this year and the next. Several significant resolutions are anticipated to be approved during the meeting. The Congress had also established a committee for drafting for the session.

This year commemorates the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s presidency and the sesquicentennial of Patel’s birth, both renowned personalities from Gujarat. The Congress shares a historical link with Gujarat, as its prominent leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Vallabhbhai Patel, originated from that region, and the party has conducted five of its sessions in the state.

The forthcoming All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting in Ahmedabad on April 8-9 will be the party’s sixth in the state and the second since independence. This will mark the Congress’ third session in Ahmedabad since it was established in 1885.
