Some time ago A woman working as a maid was accused of stealing valuable jewelry from a residence in Ballygunge PS area. After thorough interrogation, she confessed, resulting in the recovery of some jewelry stolen from her residence at Kulpi, South 24 Paraganas by the Ballygunge PS team.
Based on her statement, her three SBI accounts, in which she had deposited Rs.12,02,021/- from the sale of stolen jewelry, were frozen. It was also revealed that she had recently constructed an additional floor at her residence.
Further investigation revealed that she sold some of the stolen gold and diamond jewelry in a shop in Gariahat. Efforts are on to recover the remaining stolen items.
Last week A theft was reported at Karaya PS. The complainant suspected that her maidservants committed theft of gold coins and articles from her residence.
During the investigation, with the assistance of technical surveillance and engaged sources, one maidservant has been arrested. Based on her statement, one more culprit has been arrested and three gold coins have been recovered from his possession.
Raids are continuing to recover remaining stolen items.
