Deaths rise to 35 in Telangana pharma plant explosion, additional bodies discovered beneath rubble.

The number of fatalities from Monday’s blast at a pharmaceutical factory in Telangana’s Sangareddy district has increased to 35, as rescuers persist in removing debris from the ruined location.
On Tuesday, District Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj verified the fatalities resulting from the explosion at the Sigachi Industries pharmaceutical facility in Pashamylaram. “Several bodies have been found under the debris while removing it. As many as 31 bodies have been extricated from the debris while three died in hospital while undergoing treatment. The last leg of the rescue operation is still going on,” he told
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accompanied by several cabinet members, went to the location of the blast. Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha verified Revanth Reddy’s visit and stated that the state government had assembled all required resources. The blast, believed to have been caused by a chemical reaction within a reactor, took place between 8:15 am and 9:35 am on Monday, June 30. The subsequent explosion obliterated the industrial shed, hurled workers several feet away, and ignited a tremendous fire that necessitated a major emergency response.
Pranaam Hospitals in Miyapur admitted 21 patients on Monday with burn wounds and head trauma; two were declared dead on arrival, and one passed away the following morning, according to a senior official. Dhruva Hospitals in Patancheru took in 11 patients, with two being sent to superspecialty hospitals. Out of the other nine, five are on breathing machines. Seven individuals suffer from burns covering 40–80%, while two have 10% burns, the official informed. A revenue department representative stated that the identities of only nine bodies have been verified to date. The remaining aspects will necessitate DNA profiling. The majority of the deceased came from Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDF), municipal firefighters, and law enforcement were assigned to engage in rescue and firefighting tasks. During the efforts, two robots designed for firefighting were also utilized. Sigachi Industries Limited has, for the time being, halted operations at the Sangareddy facility for 90 days, citing significant damage to its production infrastructure. The firm, as stated on its website, produces Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), intermediates, excipients, and offers operations and management services.
The state government has formed a committee of five members to look into the cause of the exprlosion and suggest safety measures. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sympathies and declared financial aid for the families of the victims.
