Delhi govt revokes 177 political appointments made by AAP regime, including Delhi Jal Board chairperson

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which currently governs Delhi, has annulled 177 political positions that were established by the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. This decision, taking effect right away, impacts crucial roles throughout several boards, academies, and statutory organizations under the Delhi government, according to IANS.

As per reports, the cancelled appointments involved current and former AAP MLAs, office holders, and party leaders in various entities such as the Delhi Jal Board, Animal Welfare Board, Hindi Academy, Urdu Academy, Punjabi Academy, Sanskrit Academy, and the Teerth Yatra Vikas Samiti, among others—covering a total of 17 organizations, according to media sources.

Among those dismissed were AAP MLA Pawan Rana, who held the position of Chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board, MLA Vinay Mishra, who served as the Vice Chairperson, and Preeti Tomar, the spouse of former AAP minister Jitender Tomar, who was a member of the board. As per the report, various other political leaders from the party were assigned to organizations such as the Delhi Haj Committee and the Punjabi Academy.

Likewise, it was reported that non-official members Karnail Singh and Som Dutt of the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Advisory Committee, who are both current AAP MLAs, have been dismissed.

The removed members and chairpersons comprise AAP MLA Gopal Rai, who was the chairperson of the Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board. Moreover, six unofficial members have been dismissed. The memberships in other committees, including the Tree Authority, Delhi Biodiversity Council, Delhi Village Development Board, Delhi Animal Welfare Board, Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation, and Delhi Jal Board, have likewise been annulled.

Additionally, the current memberships of several academies such as Hindi, Urdu, Sahitya Kala Parishad, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Maithili, and Bhojpuri, have been revoked.
