Delhi High Court Upholds Cancellation of UNI Land Allotment at Rafi Marg

Government sources stated that the matter concerning the allotment of government land at 9, Rafi Marg, New Delhi to United News of India (UNI) for developing a composite office complex for media institutions was adjudicated by the Delhi High Court in W.P.(C) 5363/2023.
In its judgment dated 20th March 2026, the Court upheld the action of the Land and Development Office (L&DO) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which had cancelled the allotment through a letter dated 29th March 2023. The cancellation followed due process, including the issuance of a Show Cause Notice on 12 January 2023.
The Court, in its order dated 20.03.2026, directed that the concerned officials immediately take possession of the land/property and ensure its use in accordance with the law.
In compliance with the Court’s directive, authorities took over physical possession of the premises at 9, Rafi Marg on 20th March 2026, thereby executing the judgment and restoring control of the property to the government.
