Dhankhar lays the cornerstone for the Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub

In New Shillong, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar laid the cornerstone for the Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub on Wednesday.In addition, he oversaw the signing of an MOU between the UNDP and the Meghalaya government to promote entrepreneurship and launched the “CM Business Catalyst: Student B-Plan Challenge,” which is sponsored by IIM-Shillong.At a cost of Rs 77.5 Cr, the Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub will be constructed on a 6.54-acre land. It will be built as a center for industrial cooperation, training, collaboration, and incubation.

Speaking at the event, Dhankhar claimed that empowering young people would strengthen the national economy. “Skilling youth is the need of the time,” he said.

He also seemed certain that the center’s development would improve the state’s human resources.

According to Dhankhar, Meghalaya’s first female DGP, Idashisha Nongrang, is also a tribal woman, as is the president of India, the nation’s highest office. “It illustrates how India’s growth trajectory is evolving.” He added that Rs 60,000 crore has been set aside for skilling 5 lakh youth over the next five years, claiming that PM Narendra Modi has created a window of opportunity for the youth through various skilling and startup programs.

According to the chief minister, Meghalaya’s strength lies in its youthful population. He said that his administration was heavily encouraging entrepreneurship and that a talent and innovation cluster was being established to help with the labor shortfall.
Approximately 85% of our population is under 45. Our greatest asset and strength is our kids, and we have launched programs that harness this power,” he stated.
