Director Srijit Mukerji unveiled the poster for his upcoming film, named KillBill Society. Scheduled to hit theaters next month, the movie is a follow-up to Hemlock Society, which was released in 2012. In this context, the director has now disclosed that the inspiration for this narrative stemmed from the news about the suicide attempt made by actress Angelina Jolie. The actress had revealed in 2001 that she intended to orchestrate her own death when she was 22.

Taking to his X account, Srijit shared a Reddit post about Angelina’s suicide attempt and wrote in the caption, “For the conspiracy theorists, this real life incident is the genesis of #KillbillSociety. So sit back, relax and enjoy the music!:)”

Angelina once disclosed a startling truth that she employed a hitman to arrange her own assassination during her battle with suicidal ideation. The actress believed her family would have coped better with her death had she been murdered instead of ending her own life.

“I was very aware that so many people around me, like my mother, would feel as though they didn’t give enough or do enough, if I’d taken my own life. So my solution to that was if someone else had taken my life – like in a ‘robbery’ – then it would be murder and it wouldn’t be that anyone would feel they’d let me down.”

Angelina was most recently spotted in the biographical film Maria, where she portrayed the iconic opera singer Maria Callas. Directed by Pablo Larrain, the movie depicts Callas as she withdraws to Paris following a dazzling but chaotic existence in the spotlight. The movie reinterprets her last days as she struggles with her sense of self and her lasting impact.
