Dileep Shankar, a Malayalam cinema and television star, was discovered dead in a hotel room at Vanross Junction in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, according to official media. The cops allegedly filed a report when the hotel personnel discovered him dead in his room. According to several sources, Dileep checked into a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram four days ago while filming a TV program called Panchagni; he now lives in Ernakulam. The hotel personnel stated that he had not left his room in two days. On Sunday morning, hotel workers entered the room after smelling a foul odor and discovered him dead. They notified the police, who came on the scene quickly.
Cantonment ACP stated that a forensic team checked the room and that more information will be revealed post-mortem. The cops have found no evidence of foul play. Director Manoj, who worked with Dileep on the program, informed Manorama that there was a two-day pause in filming and that the actor did not return calls from him or his co-stars. The director also informed them that Dileep had unspecified health difficulties.
Dileep was a familiar face in the Malayalam movie and TV circuit. He was known for roles in hit TV shows like Ammaariyathe, Sundari, and Panchagni. He has also acted in films like Chaappa Kurish in 2011 and North 24 in 2013.
Hours after the news of his death broke, actor Seema G Nair penned an emotional post on Facebook in Malayalam that translates to, “You called me five days ago, and I couldn’t talk because I had a headache that day. Now I found out the news when a journalist called me. What happened to you Dileep…why did this happen, God, I don’t even know what to write…my tributes to you.”
