Dilip Ghosh Hints at Conspiracy Over Obscene Video Amid BJP Bengal Rift
News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / July 29, 2025

Senior BJP leader and former West Bengal state president Dilip Ghosh has refused to dismiss the possibility of an internal conspiracy aimed at tarnishing his image, following the circulation of an allegedly vulgar video featuring his likeness. Ghosh has demanded a thorough police investigation into the matter, stating he will not speculate without evidence but stressed that the timing and nature of the video raise serious concerns.
Speaking to reporters, Ghosh said, “It is for the police to investigate and find out the truth. I won’t accuse anyone without proof.” However, he did not rule out the theory that the video’s release may have been orchestrated by individuals within his own party, further fuelling speculation of deepening infighting in the West Bengal BJP.
The controversy comes against the backdrop of long-standing tensions between Ghosh and other prominent state BJP leaders, particularly after his defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Bardhaman-Durgapur. Ghosh has previously expressed dissatisfaction over being fielded from a seat he claims was thrust upon him under internal pressure.
Relations between Ghosh and current state leadership—especially BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar and opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari—have reportedly been strained. Though he was recently invited to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Durgapur rally on July 18, Ghosh’s absence from party events has remained noticeable.
Party insiders suggest the surfacing of the video may be an attempt to sideline Ghosh amid ongoing power struggles in the state unit. The BJP, which is preparing for the 2026 Assembly elections, is already grappling with challenges to internal cohesion. As the police probe begins, Ghosh’s allegations and the party’s silence on the issue have intensified public focus on internal rifts within the Bengal BJP.
