Kolkata, 24th June, 2022:   Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals, one of India’s leading networks of Eye Care Centres offering a complete solution for eye ailments launched a state of the art Retina Care Center at Kasba in Kolkata. The Retina Care Center was inaugurated by the legendary Singer Smt. Usha Uthup and presided over by Dr. Kaladevi Satish, Zonal Head- Clinical Services, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital.

EYE DONATION AWARENESS

As we step into the 63rd year of service, we are excited to build up a campaign on EYE DONATION AWARENESS as in India 13 million people are blind out of which 4 millions are suffering from Corneal Blindness. Thus by donating eyes we can cure Corneal Blindness.

Donated eyes are used to restore vision in people suffering from corneal blindness. Cornea is the clear tissue covering the front of the eye. If it is impaired, vision is reduced or lost. In such cases, vision can be restored by a simple surgery called keratoplasty wherein the cornea is replaced.

Eye Donation- a gift of Beauty, a return for Eternity because Eye donation gives sight to TWO Blind Persons.

The National Eye Donation Fortnight is observed every year from 25^th August to 8th September. We are going to organize an Eye Donation Awareness Rally to create willingness among the citizens of Kolkata and we will continue awareness activities throughout the year.

Speaking on the occasion, Singer Smt. Usha Uthup said ”I am glad to learn that Dr.Agarwals has committed to a blindness free India by supporting eye donation. India has one of the world’s largest populations suffering from corneal blindness”.

Several eye conditions experienced by diabetics show no warning signs, it is important for them to get regular eye screenings to diagnose and treat these diseases at the earliest.  With a mission to provide speciality eye care at Kolkata, we are launching a state of the art Retina facility Unit at Kasba (opposite to our existing Branch), as India is home to 77 million diabetics, second highest in the world which leads to Diabetic Retinopathy.”
