Drunk Truck Driver’s Rampage in Jaipur Kills 10, Injures Over 40

A horrifying road tragedy struck Jaipur on Monday when a dumper truck driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, went on a reckless rampage, killing at least 10 people and injuring more than 40 others. The incident occurred on Lohamandi Road, where the speeding truck ploughed through several vehicles, causing widespread panic and devastation.

According to police, the driver lost control and rammed into multiple cars, motorcycles, and auto-rickshaws over a stretch of nearly five kilometres. Eyewitnesses said the heavy vehicle kept accelerating despite repeated attempts by people to stop it, leaving behind a trail of destruction. The rampage ended only after the truck crashed into a roadside barrier and came to a halt.

Emergency services and local residents rushed to the scene to assist the injured and pull victims from the mangled wreckage. The injured were quickly transported to nearby hospitals, where several remain in critical condition. Authorities have detained the driver and sent his blood samples for testing to confirm alcohol consumption.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed deep anguish over the tragedy and directed district officials to provide all possible medical and financial assistance to the victims’ families. He also called for a detailed report on the sequence of events leading to the crash.

This accident comes barely a day after another fatal road mishap in Rajasthan’s Phalodi area, where 15 pilgrims were killed when their tempo traveller collided with a stationary trailer truck. The two back-to-back incidents have raised urgent concerns over road safety enforcement, the monitoring of heavy vehicles, and the alarming frequency of fatal crashes across the state.

Authorities have launched a full investigation into the Jaipur incident, with officials promising strict action against those responsible for the deadly rampage.
