Elon Musk’s Grok AI chatbot gets new vision and multilingual capabilities

News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 23rd April 2025

Elon Musk’s Grok AI has launched a new vision capability, granting the chatbot the power to ‘observe’ the environment in real-time through a smartphone’s camera. This is comparable to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Gemini, both of which can assess images and visuals in real-time.

On Tuesday, April 22, xAI introduced Grok Vision, a feature enabling users to direct their smartphone cameras at objects, signs, documents, and more, then inquire about them. The latest feature is available through the Grok app for iOS. Nevertheless, this feature has not been brought to Grok’s Android application yet.

xAI also unveiled features including multilingual audio and real-time search within Grok’s voice mode. This feature can be accessed by individuals enrolled in the SuperGrok plan. Last week, a memory capability was introduced to Grok 3, enabling it to retain discussions users have had with it, thereby generating more tailored replies. In straightforward terms, when a user shares their health routine, Grok can subsequently recommend a diet plan tailored to their past habits.

xAI asserted that Grok’s memory function is unique when compared to other chatbots, as its memories are ‘transparent’. This implies that the user can clearly view what Grok is aware of and opts to disregard. Grok’s memory feature distinguishes itself from other chatbots through transparency and user control. xAI is said to be working on a ‘forget’ button for Grok users on Android OS, allowing them to remove certain chats from its memory.
