Empowered Women are doning role of Priests & performing rituals in evolving Hindu society

Rituals play important roles in any religion. Rituals are performed & guided by priests of the religion and priests are mostly male. However, in continuously evolving Bengali Hindu traditions & cultural space , empowered women with in depth knowledge of Sanskrit , Hindu rituals & practices are taking up role & profession of priest and performing rituals of marriage, ‘shraddha’ , ‘annoprason’ , ‘uponoyon’, Durga Puja ,Kali Puja in fact all forms of pujas as enshrined in scriptures of Hindu religion.

Bharat Chamber of Commerce and Bharat Chamber Ladies Forum organised a special Talk on ‘ SPIRITUALISM AND WOMEN’

Spiritualism is a continuously evolving process in evolving human civilization development pathways. In traditional Indian socio-cultural space, women played important role in creating understanding of wider role of various facets of spiritualism. Women played important role in bringing innovation in various rituals & practice of Hindu religion over a long period of time for centuries.
Dr. Nandini Bhowmick highlighted the fact Indian/Hindu spiritualism calls for gender equality . Dr. Bhowmick demystified the myths based on Hindu scriptures . She mentioned Hindu spiritualism calls for equality of human beings irrespective of caste , creed, gender etc.
She stressed on need to create balance between traditional practice and adopting modernity so cultural heritage are preserved by youths and future generations.
Dr. Nandini Bhowmick stressed that rituals of Hindu religion are gender as well as caste neutral and can be performed by both men & women. However, one has to study the scriptures in depth & in details and use knowledge and apply the knowledge while performing any ritualistic ceremony.

Renuka Shah Chairperson Bharat Chamber Ladies Forum introduced the speaker Dr. Nandini Bhowmick. Smt. Sujata Sett Co – Chairperson Bharat Chamber Ladies Forum delivered vote of thanks and mentioned practice of spiritualism creates positive impact not only in individual’s life but also creates positive ripple effect in the society.
