Enhancing Pensioner Services: Integration of Pension Portals

News Mania Desk / Agnibeena Ghosh/ 29th April 2024

During the launch event of Bank of India’s Integrated Pensioners’ Portal on April 26, 2024, Shri. V Shrinivas, Secretary of the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), emphasized the importance of integrating the pension portals of all pension disbursing banks into the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal. This integration aims to streamline services for pensioners and ensure ease of living.

Secretary Shrinivas highlighted the initiatives undertaken by the DoPPW to enhance the welfare of pensioners, with a focus on digital empowerment. One significant initiative in this regard is the implementation of digital life certificates and the Bhavishya Portal. The Bhavishya platform facilitates end-to-end digitization of pension processing and payment, starting from the retiree filing their papers online to the issuance of the Pension Payment Order (PPO) in electronic format, which is then stored in the DigiLocker. This platform, mandated for all central government departments since January 1, 2017, has been successfully implemented across various ministries, departments, and attached offices, with thousands of Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) on board. The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare was recognized for its Bhavishya platform, ranking third among all central government e-Governance service delivery portals in the NeSDA Assessment 2021.

To address pensioners’ issues related to banking services, such as changing banks, life certificate submission status, pension slips, Form 16, and pension receipt information, the DoPPW is integrating the websites of Pension Disbursing Banks with the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal. This integration aims to provide pensioners with access to these services through a single window.

The integration of pension portals of major banks like State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, and Canara Bank with the Bhavishya portal has already been completed. With this integration, pensioners of Bank of India now have access to various services, including pension slips, life certificate submission status, due and drawn statement, and Form 16, through the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal. The DoPPW plans to integrate most Pension Disbursing Banks with the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal in the near future, further enhancing convenience for pensioners.

In summary, the integration of pension portals into the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal represents a significant step towards improving pensioner services and ensuring their ease of living. By providing access to essential services through a single platform, the government aims to simplify processes, enhance transparency, and facilitate seamless interaction between pensioners and government agencies.
