Kharagpur : The case involving the attack and attempted murder of Anil Das, a senior Left leader in Kharagpur, has taken a new turn as his wife, Susmita Das, has raised serious allegations of a nexus between the police and the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Susmita Das has demanded a fresh, impartial investigation into the incident.
In letters addressed to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Cabinet Minister and MLA Kharagpur Dilip Ghosh, Susmita Das detailed the attack on her husband. She stated that Anil Das was viciously attacked in broad daylight by four women, including Trinamool leader Baby Kole. According to her, this attack was an attempt on his life when the Trinamool Congress Government was in power in West Bengal.
Susmita Das further alleged that the police failed to take adequate action immediately following the assault. She claimed that pressure from Trinamool leaders is currently hindering the progress of the case, and efforts are being made to suppress critical evidence. Due to these concerns, she has called for the case to be re-opened and handled by an impartial agency to ensure justice is served. She has also urged strict punishment against those who are responsible.
The attack on Left leader Anil Das, which occurred some time ago in Kharagpur, had previously intensified political tensions in the region. Several Left parties condemned the assault, describing it as an “attack on democracy.” The recent letters sent to the Chief Minister and other officials suggest that the case may now receive renewed attention.
