Free HPV Vaccinations for Adolescent Girls Nationwide

News Mania Desk /26th February 2026

The Central Government of India has announced that free HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccinations will be made available to adolescent girls across the country starting later this month. The initiative aims to significantly reduce the incidence of cervical cancer, which remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in India.

The program will target school-going girls and adolescents in community health settings, ensuring broad accessibility and awareness. Health authorities have emphasized the safety and effectiveness of the HPV vaccine in preventing high-risk strains of the virus that contribute to cervical cancer development.

Officials stated that the vaccination drive will be accompanied by educational campaigns to inform parents, teachers, and adolescents about the benefits and importance of immunization. By expanding access to free vaccines, the government hopes to strengthen preventive healthcare measures and protect future generations from the burden of cervical cancer.
