The government has advised citizens not to panic about reports of shortages, stating that India has enough fuel and oil supply for over two months. Officials stated that the nation’s energy situation is stable and completely under control despite the ongoing tensions in West Asia. Crude oil supplies have already been guaranteed for the next sixty days, according to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. According to the PIB announcement of March 26, 2026, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have secured imports ahead of time to ensure there is no supply deficit.

There is no shortage of gasoline, diesel, or LPG anywhere in the nation, according to the authorities. There is no rationing in place, and all gas stations are running as usual. India has a robust domestic supply system because it is one of the biggest refiners in the world and a significant exporter of petroleum products. According to officials, any sporadic congestion at gas stations was caused by fear brought on by false information on social media rather than a real scarcity.

The supply of LPG has also been reinforced. Over half of the daily need is currently met by domestic production, which has greatly expanded. Consequently, there is less of a need for imports. Large LPG shipments from nations like Australia, Russia, and the United States are already en route. After a brief increase, demand has reverted to normal, and oil firms are still delivering cylinders around the nation with ease. The administration made it clear that there is no scarcity in response to the development of piped natural gas (PNG). Rather, it is a part of a long-term strategy to transition to more economical and clean energy.

Over time, PNG connections have grown significantly, and this change is being promoted as a better choice for homes.Additionally, the ministry has issued a warning against the dissemination of misleading information online. It claimed that certain posts and videos are inciting needless fear by presenting false images and making unfounded allegations regarding shortages. It has been suggested that people rely solely on official updates. The government further stated that anyone who disseminate rumors that can undermine public trust could face severe consequences.
