In Maharashtra, a gigantic python was discovered curled up on a tree, scaring locals.
On Tuesday, December 24, social media users reported a spectacular reptile rescue effort in the Tulsi dham neighborhood of Vasant Vihar, Thane.
The viral video shows the python hanging from a large limb of a tree while a gathering of people observe. The firefighting squad is shown ascending a ladder and safely retrieving the snake.
“The fire department, along with the army, rushed in to ensure the safety of both the public and the snake,” jist.news said on Instagram.
Many users flocked to the comments’ section to react to the video. “That’s snake’s habitat, most python live in trees. Calling it a rescue!!!” a user wrote. Some users slammed the people for crowding the area during the rescue operation. “Unemployment at its peak,” a user commented. “Some people can be heard clapping and whistling. It ain’t a TV programme,” another user reacted.
Earlier, on December 18, a 17-foot Burmese python weighing approximately 100 kg was rescued near Assam University’s girls’ hostel in Silchar. Bishal Sonar, a wildlife researcher and environmentalist, spearheaded the rescue mission, with support from rescuer Trikal Chakraborty. According to accounts, the viral video that surfaced on December 23 showed numerous individuals, including 12 to 13 personnel of the Barak Valley Wildlife Division, catching the 17-foot snake.
