Gold and silver prices have surged across major Indian cities, with both precious metals registering notable gains in domestic markets on Wednesday. The uptick follows strong movements in global bullion markets, where gold continued its rally amid safe-haven demand.
In the physical market, gold prices climbed significantly, with 24-carat gold trading higher compared to the previous session. The metal’s appeal has been bolstered by positive sentiment among investors and sustained buying interest from traditional buyers ahead of the festival season and key economic announcements.
Silver witnessed an even sharper rally, topping Rs 2.67 lakh per kilogram in several cities. This surge marked one of the most substantial short-term increases in recent sessions, reflecting strong industrial demand and renewed investor interest. Silver’s performance outpaced that of gold in percentage terms, highlighting its dual role as both an industrial commodity and an investment asset.
City-wise data showed silver prices in cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad hovering around the Rs 2.67 lakh per kg mark. In Delhi and Mumbai, silver also remained elevated, driven by brisk trading activity and market enthusiasm. Gold too stayed firm in major markets, with 24-carat prices reaching new domestic highs as traders absorbed the latest global cues.
Analysts attributed the rise in bullion prices to several factors, including volatility in international markets, currency fluctuations and persistent demand from retail buyers. The rally in global spot gold prices also fed into domestic trends, supporting higher price levels in India. Market watchers noted that the recent price movements reflect both short-term speculative flows and longer-term structural demand for precious metals as a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty. Investors and jewellers alike are closely monitoring price trends as they weigh buying decisions in the coming days.
