Govt invites Israeli startups for collaboration in quantum, space sector

Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday encouraged Israeli startups to work with Indian companies on the National Quantum Mission. Singh extended the offer to Israel’s Industry and Economy Minister, Nir Barkat, who met him here.

The two leaders discussed collaborating on companies in space, quantum technology, agriculture, and health. Singh encouraged Israeli businesses, known for their groundbreaking work in quantum computing, to collaborate with Indian academics to create vital quantum technologies.

“India and Israel can supplement each other in this domain India with its large market, manpower, and opportunities, and Israel with its cutting-edge innovation,” Singh pointed out.

Singh believes Israeli startups and researchers can play an important role in co-developing crucial technologies, utilizing their expertise for mutual gain. The minister stated that since the space sector was opened up to private investors, the number of startups in this field has increased, demonstrating India’s expanding role as a global space technology powerhouse.

During the discussion, the two ministers discussed potential partnerships in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things. Singh stated that Israeli companies can regard India as a trusted partner in these vital fields, highlighting the country’s progress in indigenous technology development, such as mobile manufacturing and 5G rollout.
