According to an RTI response from the under the RBI’s control Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran, 0 2,000-denomination currency notes were printed in 2019–20, 2020–20, and 2021–2022.

Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran disclosed that it produced 3,542.991 million pieces of Rs 2,000 notes in the fiscal year 2016–17. This number sharply decreased to 111.507 million notes in the following year and to 46.690 million notes in the following year.
In India, the highest denomination note is the Rs 2,000 note. After the government announced the demonetization of the previous Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 currency notes on November 8, 2016, the Central Bank launched the new Rs. 2,000 note.
According to NCRB data, the number of counterfeit Rs 2,000 notes seized in the nation increased significantly between 2016 and 2020, from 2,272 to 2,44,834 pieces, according to a recent government response in the Parliament.
According to the data, there were 2,272 fake Rs 2,000 notes found in the country overall in 2016, 74,898 in 2017, 90,566 in 2019, and 2,44,834 in 2020, a significant increase. The central bank stopped printing the Rs 2,000 in 2020, according to the RTI response.
