Historic Diamond Jubilee celebration of Barak Tea Workers Union was organized with great pomp

Today, a magnificent and significant Diamond Jubilee celebration for the Barak Tea Workers Union was held with much splendor at Labaok Tea Garden in the Cachar district. During the Diamond Jubilee celebration, Chief Guest and Labour Minister of the Assam Government, Rupesh Gowala announced that tea workers will receive five thousand rupees. He stated that all the Jhumar performers who took part in the Guwahati event will receive ₹25000 thanks to the Chief Minister’s efforts.

Union General Secretary Rajdeep Goala, in his report as General Secretary, stated that workers must be granted the right to land and compensation. He requested the construction of distinct hostels for girls and boys for the children of tea workers at Assam University. He urged the Assam government to accept the caste list to alleviate the difficulties tea workers face in acquiring caste certificates.
He mentioned that if the government provides a ration subsidy and ensures a 24-hour electricity supply to the tea gardens, the tea garden workers will not experience any difficulties in receiving their wages of Rs 350. In the report, he detailed the background of the tea garden laborers and provided insights into their hard work, commitment, and sacrifices. In his short statement, Executive President Ajit Singh urged the workers to come together and advocate for their rights.
Rupesh Gowala mentioned that when the plantation connects PF, numerous individuals are willing to accept it, indicating that the tea sector is gaining advantages. He stated that individuals who produce orthodox tea will receive a subsidy of ₹10 for each kilogram. The authorities are constructing roads within the tea plantations. The government is supplying medications in the hospitals of the tea gardens. The government is additionally supplying ambulances in the tea plantations .
A total of 313 artists from Barak Valley took part in the event. Every tea worker will receive ₹5000 as a token of appreciation. Steps are underway to create an app that provides information regarding the Provident Fund. A support line will also be established. Numerous plans are being proposed for MNREGA laborers, who will be employed in the tea gardens throughout the season. The remaining time they will engage in MNREGA projects and enhance their locality. Initiatives are underway to create various programs aimed at improving the lives of tea workers.
The program was organized by Union official Babul Narayan Kanu alongside Vishwajit Koiri, general secretary of the Tea Youth Welfare Committee. Among those on stage were Assam Tea Workers Union chairman and ex-Union minister Pawan Singh Ghatwar, former MLA Manilal Gwala, noted Jhumar artist Padma Shri Dulal Manki, Ishwar Bhai Uvadia, Sushil Kumar Singh, Sanjay Upman, Sanatan Mishra, Mahabal Koiri, Shiv Pujan Ravidas, Khirod Karmakar, Radheshyam Koiri, and others. Tea Youth Welfare Committee chairman Lalan Prasad Gwala was occupied with welcoming the guests. Other members of the Tea Youth Welfare Committee, including Sachin Sahu, Chaudhary Charan God, and union worker Surjeet Karmakar, were occupied with organizing the event. Over thirty thousand individuals, including notable figures from the entire Barak Valley, took part in the program.
