Japanese carmaker Honda Motor Company announced on Monday that Takashi Nakajima will take on the role of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Honda Cars India (HCIL), starting April 1.

The announcement came after the yearly management shifts implemented by Honda Motor Company. Nakajima, who became part of Honda in 1994, will take over from Takuya Tsumura. Tsumura is set to return to Japan to join Honda’s main office following the completion of his three-year term in India, the company announced.

With 30 years of experience at Honda, Nakajima has been the President of Honda Motor Russia since 2021 and has also served in several other international markets, including Japan, China, Spain, and the Czech Republic, focusing on business planning, product planning, marketing, and sales promotion.

Media reports referencing Honda indicated that in his three years in India, Tsumura significantly contributed to improving the automaker’s premium brand reputation, bolstering customer-centric efforts, and fostering profitable expansion. He spearheaded the introduction of multiple premium models, such as India’s inaugural mainline hybrid, the Honda City e:HEV, the worldwide SUV Honda Elevate, and the third-gen Amaze.
