The Special Inquiry Register (SIR) has sent a hearing notice to Humayun Kabir, a retired IPS officer, and Debra, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA from West Bengal.

Speaking about the notice, Kabir said, “I received a hearing notice from the Special Inquiry Register (SIR). Today, I have to go to DPS Ruby Park school. Apparently, my voter ID, PAN, and Passport weren’t enough for the ECI, simply because my name wasn’t on the 2002 voter list. During that time, I was stationed in Europe on a UN Deputation following orders from the Ministry of External Affairs; I even have a copy of my Diplomatic Passport.”

He said, “I submitted my Pension Record during my hearing today. It is surprising that I have served in the Police for 31 years and also served abroad in a UN mission, but I was still served the notice.” Citing his lengthy tenure in law enforcement and his abroad assignment as part of a United Nations mission, the former IPS officer expressed surprise at the notification.
