“I was saved by God to make America great again,” Trump grants pardon to 1500 individuals charged on January 6th

Donald Trump granted pardons to around 1,500 of his supporters who assaulted the U.S. Capitol four years prior as he quickly took action to assert his authority over the U.S. government just hours after regaining the presidency on Monday.

At the White House, Trump signed a directive that announced a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, which would release funds and enable him to send troops there. He signed a directive that would terminate a policy granting citizenship to individuals born in the United States, which is bound to initiate an extensive legal battle. Another executive order classified Mexican drug cartels as terrorist groups.

Trump again pulled the United States out of the Paris climate agreement, excluding the world’s largest historical emitter from international efforts to combat climate change for the second time in ten years.

“We’re eliminating all the cancer … created by the Biden administration,” Trump stated as he signed a series of executive orders in the Oval Office. Additional orders rescinded Biden administration regulations on artificial intelligence and electric vehicles. He additionally mandated a halt on federal recruitment and directed government employees to resume working in the office instead of remotely. He additionally signed documents to establish a “Department of Government Efficiency,” an external advisory group led by billionaire Elon Musk focused on reducing significant portions of government expenditure.
