In The Midst Of A High Alert For Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra, There Were Two Blasts In Jammu That Injured Six People
Twin explosions in Jammu this morning injured six persons, according to the police, increasing fears about the security of Congressman Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir.
The explosions in an industrial area in Jammu’s Narwal neighborhood happened as the Union territory was being heavily guarded in anticipation of the foot march. Currently taking a respite, Mr. Gandhi’s yatra is over 60 kilometers from Jammu at Chadwal.
According to police, the nature of the explosions has not yet been determined. At the explosion, scene forensic specialists.
Six persons were hurt in the twin explosions, according to Mukesh Singh, additional director general of police (Jammu). One of the injured has been reportedly sent urgently to the hospital.
Following the explosions, the area has been closed off and security has been increased. As part of a search operation, vehicles are being inspected.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha decried the explosions and promised the injured 50,000 in financial aid.
The Jammu and Kashmir leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra began on January 19 and is scheduled to end in Srinagar on January 30.
